The Gardens at Barry Road team member makes significant impact on residents dealing with memory change.
Our very own Sara Meinking, Memory Care Director, is making a notable impact on the lives of our residents, while inspiring other staff to do the same! She is one of the many Bethesda Senior Living care givers training in Teepa Snow's POSITIVE APPROACH™ - a progressive therapy for helping seniors and their families recognize and manage the early signs of memory change.
Sara has been a member of the Bethesda Senior Living team for two years and brings over two decades of experience in senior care.
Prior to joining the Bethesda family, Sara worked in long term care, independent living, home health, and dementia care. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Music Therapy from UMKC’s Conservatory of Music and is a certified music therapist. In February 2016, Sara earned her certification as a Teepa Snow POSITIVE APPROACH™ Concept trainer. She implements her training daily with the staff, residents, and families of The Gardens at Barry Road.
"Our care managers have benefited from their training by having a better understanding of those they work with. They understand that their approach matters, and that they have the tools to ensure a positive outcome when they're working with our residents."
Sara began her career with seniors for the same reason she loves her job today – they are treasures with so much to give. She knows that every day will be different, and filled with unconditional love. Faith-based service means cherishing the lives of seniors, and doing the right thing – something her team strives to do every day.
