Fairy Tales Do Come True
In our hearts, where it counts the most, love will always win. One week after the premier The Gardens at Barry Road’s residents set off for Union Station’s Extreme Screen to view Beauty and the Beast. We arrived early to get great seats and have snacks in hand when the movie started. Disney did a magnificent job with the production, and we all loved this live version of a classic fairytale. To make the show even more exciting, we opted to see the 3-D version which had some of us jumping in our chairs.
We have a small group of residents who enjoy getting together and traveling to local theaters to view Hollywood’s more recent productions. Depending on the film showing we laugh, cry, learn, and imagine ourselves in the characters’ places. Theaters are a great togetherness outing where we all catch different aspects of the film. Afterwards comparisons are made on each viewer’s favorite scene and discussions present on sections we did not quite understand. Sometimes we agree on favorite characters and other time we each claim a different favorite.
Guests are always welcome to share in our experiences; please contact Activity Director Jodi Kersten (816-584-3200) if you wish to be whisked away for a couple of hours.
